Nooks and Crannies

I have been a reader and lover of books from a very young age. It wasn't until I joined the Bookstagram community that I realised just how many like-minded people there were. It was there that I also discovered bookish products.

My first idea came while reading in bed in winter. My hands would freeze no matter what position I tried. Having been a knitter since 2005, I whipped up a pair of fingerless mittens. Not good enough! My fingers were still icy and hubby was not happy when it came time to sleep! So then I thought, what if I could just slip a finger out from a regular pair of mittens to turn the page? After a few weeks of trial and error, I made both the page turner mittens and the swiper mittens listed. These worked perfectly for turning the page. The page turners, while still leaving two fingers colder, also allow for texting so they're great for slightly different needs.

Then one day I had bundled my book safely in a lovely book sleeve, but I wanted to take a short walk to the park with it. Holding it in my arm more than five minutes was not terribly comfortable and I had nowhere to put my keys and phone. I thought, "If only my book sleeve had a strap." The lightbulb practically burst in my head and I set to with my very basic sewing skills.
