Madam Butterfly Photography
I have been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. I love the creative outlet among other activities such as scrapbooking and cross-stitch. I love how photography, along with every other artistic genre, is so subjective. What one person likes is not necessarily what the next one likes and everyone could see or feel something different to the same photograph.
I have found enjoyment in landscape and abstract photography. I love to get out into nature and look at things in a slightly different way. Western Australia is such a beautiful place to photograph, with its diverse range of landscapes from the sea to the bush, many quarry’s and river banks, flora and fauna, and don’t forget the heritage buildings.
I would like to get into astrophotography, I love the stars and the universe. I also want to get into underwater and aerial photography.
Since leaving school I have had many occupations, store person, retail assistant, bus driver, warehousing, I’ve even worked in a couple of photo labs. I’ve dreamt about selling my photographs for a living but have been too scared to take the leap. I finally closed my eyes and jumped and I am loving it.
I found the NEIS (New Enterprise Incentive Scheme) program, it’s a great program where they help people into their own businesses making their own money. They take you through a Cert III in Micro Business Operations, help you with your business proposal and mentor you through your first year of operating. I highly recommend them and Many Rivers who are a not for profit organisation helping small business with their many contacts.
Apart from photography I volunteer for the State Emergency Service. I have been volunteering since 2003. I love helping out the community, I’m gaining some great life skills and I’m making lifelong friends
